How the route works
You create an Express Entry profile with test results and a credential assessment. If you meet a program’s minimums you enter the pool, where you receive a CRS score. IRCC holds rounds of invitations; if invited, you submit a full permanent residence application with documents and fees.
Category-based selection
Many rounds now invite people in a category, such as French-language proficiency, healthcare, trades or transport, with lower cut-off scores than general rounds. Cut-offs change from round to round.
Common questions
Is the 67-point grid the same as the CRS score?
No. The 67-point grid decides whether you can enter the pool as a Federal Skilled Worker. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score then ranks everyone in the pool for invitations.
Are there still general draws?
There has been no round open to all programs since April 2024. Recent invitations have gone mainly to French speakers, set occupations such as healthcare and trades, Canadian experience and provincial nominees.
What changes on 3 November 2026?
Qualifying high-wage job offers earn extra CRS points depending on how far the wage is above the median, and an LMIA is no longer needed for those offers.
